Details

Enhance the quality and responsiveness of visualization in LABonWEBโ€™s cloud-based STEM simulations. The aim is to optimize rendering performance, refine user interface design, and improve overall user experience. This will ensure simulations run smoothly across devices while maintaining clarity and interactivity, serving as a foundation for scalable, high-quality virtual labs.

Desired outcomes by the end of the project:

  • Define the role of visualization in cloud-based simulations
  • Identify limitations in current JavaScript-based rendering methods
  • Apply HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to improve graphical clarity and interactivity
  • Implement performance improvements for responsiveness across browsers and devices
  • Test and validate visualization improvements against usability and performance metrics
  • Document best practices for future visualization development in cloud-hosted simulations

Deliverables

By the end of the project, examples of outcomes are:

  • Review of current visualization methods and performance limitations
  • Identification of best-fit tools and libraries for enhancing JavaScript-based simulations (e.g., WebGL, Three.js, D3.js)
  • Internal mapping of visualization improvements to LABonWEBโ€™s broader simulation platform goals

Final deliverables should include:

  1. Visualization Enhancement Report โ€“ outlining findings, methods applied, and recommended improvements for future development
  2. Prototype Demonstration โ€“ an updated, optimized simulation interface showcasing improved visualization and responsiveness
  3. Executive Slide Deck (5โ€“7 slides) โ€“ summarizing project outcomes, before/after comparisons, and key benefits for decision makers
